Simple Steps to Create the Most Relaxing Clutter-Free Bedroom Environment

February 3, 2023

Today, you need to look carefully at all the variables and determine if they are worth the investment. Below is a rough idea of how much you will need to part with should you look to install a wood stove in your house. It may cover the cost of buying and installing the stove in some instances – in other cases, and it is all about installing alone.

Cost Factors

As stated, several factors will decide how much you spend on installing a wood stove in your house. Among them are the cost of the stove, labor, stovepipe, and even ventilation system. It would help if you also looked at other costs, such as exterior wooden shutters materials.

The shutters are, at times, the best ideas you can use if you want the house to be well-ventilated for the stove. You will also need to factor in concepts such as the cost of the chimney – this is if you will not be using the one installed in your house.

The cost of living is up and will undoubtedly only continue to go higher as things get tougher – it won’t be a walk in the park. It would help if you also looked at the height of the house; the higher, the better. Lower means you will need to invest more in ventilation and all.

Break down of the Cost

You need to now look at the price range for each of what you will be spending on. Below is a simple breakdown depending on the size of the stove and other costs

  • Woodstove – this will cost you anywhere between $400 – $2500
  • Hearth pad – you will need to part with around $200 – $600
  • Labor – labor can be costly depending on various factors. For example, when you are getting the labor and where. Some of the high-rise areas will cost more. You need to have at least $300 – $1000 for labor. Also, factor in the size of the stove in labor.
  • Wallcovering – some work on the wall will be done at $60 – $500. Here, you only need to look at what matches your theme
  • Stovepipe/venting and chimney will set you back around $400 – $4000.

The average costs here are just that; you will need to narrow down the price according to your specific needs for the task. If you have the money, you can better prepare for each of them on the high side.

Wood Stove and Chimney

Above, you got a rough estimate as to when you don’t have to do remodels. The chimney may be there – the one in your house. Where it was listed chimney, all you need is to add a few repairs to fit the style.

When you install a whole new item and add the chimney to the equation, it will be costly. Here, you will also need to get the right stovepipe, wall protection, and Class A chimney. This will cost you a whole lot more than before.

It would also help to look at some of the vent costs that will need to be undertaken. For example, exterior house shutters for windows will come in handy. They will mean you don’t have to keep the windows open when the stove is on.

Shutters give you much more than just vents though, they also provide the space a good look from the outside. You will need to find the right one for this as you will likely be looking at them when you have the stove on. Ensure you go for windows shutters that stand out regardless.

Costs

When you want to install the stove and the chimney at once, you will likely part with around $2,500 – $7,000. That’s a steep price, but it is the price you will need to pay for this feature. When you already have the stove and want only to install the chimney, it will cost you around $1500 – $3500.

Here’s a simple breakdown of what you will be spending in general.

  • A chimney that will be along the house’s exterior wall, you will need to spend around $2300 – $3200. This will depend on the design of the chimney and, of course, the beauty it gives the space. You don’t want to go for anything, especially something everyone can see.
  • Through the ceiling – here, you don’t need to look at the design as much. No one will see the chimney; it only needs to do the job you want it to. It will cost you around $1800 – $2100.
  • If you want the chimney through the artic or second floor, it will be costly than the previous ones. You will need to part with around $2400 – $3300 on average for the chimney.

Installation in Existing Fireplace

At times, you don’t want the struggle of getting a new chimney and all for your stove. What you need to look at is having it at a fireplace. To make this installation, it will cost you between $1000 – $3000, depending on the work. You will need to also look at the height of the house, stove to install, among other things, before deciding on the actual price. Some, you will need to expand the hearth pad, and others it remains.

Conclusion

Installing a wooden stove in your house will come at a cost, and you need to be prepared for it if you are to do it. Here is a simple breakdown of the whole idea of the job. It would help if you prepared on the high side to get anything quality through to your house.
