When planning to move to a new home or office, you may be worried about the expenses. This is because moving is an expensive process that requires a big budget.

For that reason, you need to ensure you recruit qualified and reliable commercial movers to help you move. Also, you need a company that will assist in cutting down your moving expenses, and people who will give an accurate estimate.

How do you find a reliable moving company?

Even though most moving companies are the same, some are reliable, more experienced, and ethical than others. But with a little research, you can be able to find a reliable company.

First, you need to verify their credentials. Make sure the company is insured, certified, and licensed. Also, go through online reviews and feedback to ensure you select a reliable company.

Besides, visit their website and learn more about moving and the company. Best movers provide enough information to their customers. Whether you want to get an estimate or you want to learn about moving to a specific area, the website should have all the information you need.

Which are the key factors that affect your moving estimate?

Many factors can affect your moving estimate. For instance, the moving cost will be based on the total cost of your items and the distance from your old home to the new home. Below are the key factors that affect the moving estimate.

1. Packing and crating costs

Since you will be paying the professional movers for their time, you will pay for more time if you need them to pack your belongings. And the more items you have the more time they will take to pack.

Even though they are experts when it comes to packing, you can save money if you decide to pack by yourself. You can manage to cut the moving cost further if you can disassemble your big furniture instead of letting the experts do it.

In addition, you will pay extra cost for special packing. If you have many fragile items, you will pay more. Items such as artworks need a specific kind of packing and handling. Thus, extra packing materials will be needed and thus the cost will be higher.

2. Long walking distance or stairs

Another factor that will make the moving cost increase is long walking distance or stairs. If you have multiple stairs or long stairs, the cost of moving will be higher. This is because the movers will have to carry your belongings either up or down.

There is also a long-carry fee if the mover will walk a long distance. The distance from your home to the truck affects the moving cost as well. If the distance is greater than 50 feet, expect to pay more.

3. Moving time

If you are moving during winter, you will pay less than someone moving in the summer. This is because summer is one of the busiest times to move. Most people prefer to move during summer because it is warmer and the children are at home.

If you move during winter, when the weather is not pleasing and children are at school, your estimate will be friendly. Thus, you can keep some money if you can manage to move from September to May. You may also pay more if you move on a national holiday.

4. Bad access to your location

The other factor that will affect your moving cost is bad accessibility to your pick-up location and drop-off area. If your old or new home is in an area that prevents a large vehicle from loading or unloading, you may end up paying for more.

This is because the movers will have to look for a different way to get your items out of your house or into the new home. For instance, they may be required to use smaller vehicles to access the premises. Thus, you will be required to pay extra costs.

5. Narrow hallways or doors

If your house doors are narrow, that is another factor that will affect the estimate. When items do not fit through the door or the hallways are narrow, the movers will have to look for alternatives. This means more time and more resources.

For example, a rigger may be required to move the items through the window. Since it is a risky activity, you could be charged more.

6. Storage fee

It is obvious that you will pay more if you need some storage. Actually, the storage fee is one of the reasons why the estimate may increase radically. If your new home or office is not ready, you will need to pay the NYC office movers storage fee. However, your belongings will be well stored at their warehouse.

Bottom-line

Moving is expensive and a challenging process. Since it might not be easy to move your belongings all by yourself, hiring a moving company is the best option. However, you need to ensure the moving costs are reasonable.

To ensure you lower your moving costs, make sure you are well prepared for the move. Pick a good moving time, avoid storage fees, and make sure you pack and disassemble your pieces of furniture on time.

In addition, make sure you choose a reliable moving company. Trustworthy companies such as NYC movers care for you, your family, and your belongings.
