Does Staging Your Home Make a Difference?

As far as home staging goes, here are some cost-saving tips that will help you make the most out of your investment, all while putting your best out for potential buyers to see. The article will guide you through easy renovation tips that can get you on the winning end in this sale process.

Don’t Stage All the Rooms

Your home staging is going to cost you more for every square inch you want to cover, which is why it might be a good idea for you to go about it smartly.

You don’t need to stage each and every part of the house – the most important parts would be the common living area, the dining room or kitchen, and the master bedroom. In all the other rooms, you might be able to get away with just a simple cleanup and some basic renovations.

Increase Curb Appeal

Before making sure the interior of your home is all spick and span, don’t forget the exterior! First impressions matter a lot, and a dingy-looking house isn’t going to get offers as good as one that comes with a well-kept front yard, clean walls, doors, and windows, and proper lighting.

Not making the outside of your home as presentable as you can manage might cost you valuable offers and good customers, which is why you need to pay extra attention to it. The reason you’re staging your house is to make sure the interior reinforces the positive image of the house already established with the help of a well-maintained exterior.

Turn Your Home Into a Blank Canvas

If you really want your home to sell, you need to stage it in a way that any prospective buyers can see themselves in the space. They need to be able to envision all of their things in the house and to easily see it being turned into what they want for themselves.

This might involve you having to remove personal items, bold furniture, family photos, and a lot of personal stuff from the main home, and is often a part of the staging process.

Engage All the Senses

This just ties in with our last piece of advice – that prospective buyers should be able to envision your home as their own. This might also involve engaging all their other senses – particularly their sense of smell.

Right before a home staging, bake cookies or some bread in the oven. You can also take advantage of essential oils or light air fresheners in your home to make it smell better.

Make sure there are no noisy kids present and try to schedule the viewing at a time when neighborhood noise is at a minimum.

Lighting, Floor, and Walls

Not only do you need to remove any furniture and decor in the home that’s deeply personal and bold, but you also need to make sure that the lighting is perfect, the floors are clean and neutral, and so are the walls.

A space that’s covered in clear colors and neutral hues is going to sell more easily than a room with dark brown walls – prospective buyers might be hesitant in buying a property that they’ll have to change a lot to make it suitable to their tastes.
