First, the Filter

A good filtration system is essential for keeping your pool water healthy, as it removes dirt, debris, and other contaminants from the water. Ideally, you should be changing a portion of your filter’s media every two weeks or so (depending on how many people are using your pool). Also, be sure to backwash your filter regularly according to the manufacturer’s instructions.

However, if you notice that your pool water is still cloudy or murky after filtration, it may be time to give the entire pool a good cleaning. According to the incredible team at https://www.handypools.com.au/, a great way to clean your pool is to use an attachment that sprays water at high pressure. With this type of cleaning, you can scrub all the walls and floors of your pool with ease, and it will thoroughly disinfect any germs or bacteria in the process.

On the other hand, filters do have a limited lifespan and will need to be replaced eventually. Depending on the type of filter you have, as well as how often it’s used, it could last anywhere from 2 to 10 years.

Chlorine

Regularly adding chlorine to your pool is another important step in keeping it clean and safe to swim in. This can be done either manually or through the use of a robotic chlorinator. When choosing your chlorine, stick to those that are stabilized and have no smell, as these varieties tend to be safer for swimmers and more effective overall.

Depending on the type of the pool, other chemicals may be needed. For instance, if you have a saltwater pool, you will need to add salt regularly to keep the water properly balanced. Or, if you have a vinyl-lined pool, then you will need to constantly check the water’s pH level and add acid if necessary.

So, whether your swimming pool is indoors or outdoors, it’s important to monitor its chemical levels regularly and make adjustments as necessary. If not, you run the risk of exposing swimmers to harmful bacteria and other contaminants that could result in illness.

Testing

Another critical aspect of ensuring your swimming pool is clean and healthy is to test the water regularly. This can be done with a simple pool test kit, which you can purchase at most hardware stores. Test kits usually come with instructions on how to properly use them, but as a general rule of thumb, you should be testing the pH and chlorine levels at least once a week.

If you notice that the water has become too acidic or basic, it’s important to make adjustments to bring it back into balance. Also, if the levels of either chloramine or chlorine are too low, you will need to add more of those chemicals. On the other hand, if the readings for either are too high, then it’s probably time to add more water to dilute them.

Lastly, if you notice that there is an unidentified greenish-brown substance in your pool, don’t panic! It’s probably just algae, which can easily be removed with chlorine or another sanitizer. Simply follow the directions on your test kit, and you should be back to swimming in no time.

Maintenance

Keeping your pool clean and healthy also involves doing regular maintenance tasks like skimming debris from the surface, vacuuming the bottom, and brushing the walls and floor. These tasks should be done at least once a week, but more often if necessary. If you are looking such as above ground swimming pools, You can find them at Watson’s just visit the site and get yours

Additionally, it’s important to inspect your pool regularly for any signs of damage or wear and tear. This includes cracks in the tiles, loose bolts, or ripped liners. Any sort of damage should be repaired as soon as possible, especially if it’s allowing water to leak out of your pool. In this case,  you may need to call in professionals for help.

Other maintenance tasks may include opening and closing your pool for the season, winterizing it if necessary, and keeping the surrounding area tidy. Additionally, you want to regularly clean your pumps, filters, heaters, and other pool equipment.

By following these four steps, you can ensure that your swimming pool is clean and healthy. Whether you’re relying on chlorine to disinfect the water, testing it regularly for chemical levels, or doing other routine maintenance tasks, it’s important to keep your pool in top shape so that everyone can safely enjoy a refreshing swim!
