Lifestyle in El Carmen

El Carmen is the most popular neighborhood in Valencia’s Ciutat Vella district, and it was once the city center. Its historic buildings, some of which are listed on the UNESCO world heritage list, made it famous around the world. Despite its modernization over the past decade, El Carmen has solidified its reputation as one of the most lively and trendy old place to visit in Europe.

Does Staging Your Home Make a Difference?

March 13, 2023
There’s no place for boredom in El Carmen, as it offers plenty of restaurants, dance cafes, and art made by local creators that give it a funky vibe. It attracts many young people each year, but it can also be loud at night due to the many bars and clubs in the area. The narrow historical streets also mean that lower floors can be chilly during winter due to lack of sunlight.

El Carmen’s charming and labyrinthine streets make it attractive for internationals from all over the world. And though it is regarded as safe, it is probably more suited for students and young professionals, rather than families with children. And as with any new location, you may have to adjust to the environment. You can visit the website offering comprehensive guides on Valencia real estate Spain-Real.Estate.

Lifestyle in El Cabanyal

El Cabanyal is located five kilometers away from the center and was once mainly populated by fishermen. It comprises three areas and offers a unique living experience if you want to live away from the hustle and bustle of the city.

El Cabanyal, once a disputed area between locals and authorities, has now been declared a protected historical zone. With its charming old fisherman’s huts now renovated, this neighborhood offers a one-of-a-kind living experience. Although it’s not as commercialized, El Cabanyal is slowly gaining popularity with the repurposing of abandoned industrial facilities into cultural venues.

Located near the beach, El Cabanyal offers an idyllic coastal lifestyle but do note that the beach can be deserted during winter months. With its growing popularity, the district has become a housing hotspot for internationals, especially digital nomads.

Lifestyle in Benimaclet

Benimaclet, a former separate municipality, has maintained its small-town vibe until today. Despite being part of the third-largest city in Spain, everyone here knows each other.

Home to several university campuses, Benimaclet offers a perfect blend of local and international cultures, with plenty of entertainment and self-care options. This part is well connected to the downtown and ranks as one of the safer areas in Valencia, making it ideal for families.

Lifestyle in Cánovas & Mercado de Colón Área

Cánovas & Mercado de Colón Área, although two independent neighborhoods, share a lot of similarities. This part of the city is the most upscale, with plenty of high-end shops and restaurants. However, it’s still possible to find affordable accommodation. With its central location, proximity to Turia Park, and good public transport connections, this area offers an attractive living experience for locals and internationals alike. It also ranks as one of the safer areas.

Lifestyle in Mestalla

Mestalla, located just east of the city center, offers a calm and affordable living experience. Within biking or walking distance from downtown amenities and the beach, it is well connected to a plethora of attractions and landmarks through a good public transport network.

Mestalla’s tranquility and affordability make it a popular choice for locals and international students, and based on its proximity to the city center.

Valencia’s suburbs

Valencia’s suburbs also offer a unique and desirable lifestyle, providing a perfect balance between tranquility and quick access to city life. With the presence of detached villas, greenery, and stunning mountain landscapes, the suburbs offer an escape from the fast-paced urban life. Excellent public transport options and good connectivity to the city make it easy for residents to enjoy the best of both worlds. Here are the top six suburban areas to visit:

  • La Eliana,
  • La Cañada (Paterna),
  • San Antonio de Benagéber,
  • Godella,
  • Rocafort,
  • Bétera.

Each of these municipalities provides a unique lifestyle, with good schools, sports facilities, and beautiful villas.
