As a homeowner, choosing the best interior and exterior designs for your place can be challenging. With several styles to choose from and beautiful pieces of decorations to add, you may be confused and overwhelmed about how and where to start.

Giving your property a makeover doesn’t mean you have to do a complete renovation project. Although this is possible, sometimes, it may not be practical and realistic. So, instead of revamping your house entirely, you can modernise your home while retaining the other details and touches you love.

It’s time you give your space a fresh, new look and modernised feel for a change. If you are still unsure what to do and where to start, here are six things you can accomplish to give your house a modern touch instantly.

1. Create more open areas

One common thing about modern homes is the open space concept for interior design. Usually, modernised homes have minimal clutter and simple pieces of furniture. Thus, to create more space in your home, consider decluttering and removing bulky furniture and decorations you don’t need.

Although you don’t have to break down your walls to create a more open feel, you may do so to enlarge your space further. Once you’ve finished decluttering and removing the unnecessary partitions, you’ll be surprised at how much room you have. From there, you can start laying out your plan to add and upgrade your decorations and furniture.

2. Brighten up your home

Brightening up the rooms is one of the quickest and simplest ways to give your home an instant, clean and modern feel. To add more life to these spaces, you can upgrade your lighting or add more lights to improve the overall mood of your home. You may want to focus on empty, cramped, dark areas around the house.

Consider investing in smart lighting systems if you are not on a tight budget. Going modern by adding smart technology will instantly boost the general modern feel of your interior. However, you can also opt for easier methods such as laying out table or floor lamps in the room’s corners.

3. Dress your windows

Another important upgrade you may want to accomplish is your windows. Most modern homes have open-concept windows that let natural light in with added window treatments. Don’t go too minimalistic, and leave your windows bare. Instead, dress them with stylish curtains or binds that complement your style.

External venetian blinds are most popular in modern homes because, aside from giving you a relaxing and comfortable interior, it also provides heat protection from solar radiation.

4. Add a new coat of paint

One of the most affordable and easiest ways to quickly revamp your home’s interior and exterior is by replacing the old or plain colours to clean and neutral ones. Most modern homes usually use natural and calming tones to incorporate the cleanliness and simplicity of the home.

You can choose light colours and add a statement wall to create a sense of minimalist and wider room space. You’ll be surprised at how the rooms look more spacious and airy once done.

5. Install flooring instead of carpets

Carpets or rugs on the floors can easily mirror how outdated or in need of renovation your house is. Instead of sticking to them, consider installing floorings made from natural materials like wood. Aside from being easy to clean, they are also long-lasting and will give your house the modern feel it needs. You can also see how much bigger the room may feel by choosing the best colour and material.

6. Increase front landscape appeal

To make your home modern from the inside and outside, you should also modernise your front landscape. After all, it’s the first thing your visitors will see upon entering your humble abode. Simply adding outdoor lights, repainting your door, and adding plants can positively impact people visiting and passing by.

You can also remove the old decorations that do not complement your overall style. Stick with your theme and add simple, minimalistic touches to boost your design.

Elevate Your Home!

Even the smallest changes, like upgrading your lighting and decluttering, can modernise your home. To achieve your dream modern home, you do not have to go through heavy renovation projects that require more time and finances. You can fulfil your home upgrade without draining your funds and costing you much effort and time by simply following these simple steps.
